Seed Grants Programme

The programme aimed to support emerging documentary filmmakers with cash grants and mentorship from award-winning filmmakers. Documentary filmmakers with projects related to Hong Kong can apply. Both short and feature-length documentary films in the production or post-production phases are welcomed. Successful applicants will receive the following:

1-on-1 coaching by creative advisors
9 months of residency at the JMSC
Free admission to classes by award-winning experts

Size Of Grant Pool

Up to 5 projects per year, based on the length of film, each project will receive up to HKD 150,000:

  • 30 minutes or less (Short subject): up to HKD 80,000
  • 60 minutes or less (TV broadcast): up to HKD 120,000
  • 95 minutes or less (Theatrical film): up to HKD 150,000

Eligibility

Priority is given to Hong Kong permanent residents, aged 18 or above, who have previously produced at least one documentary film of not less than 15 minutes.
